Quantum Leap Relaunch NEWS

8th October 2023

In the last 48hrs, writers for the remainder of the series, and several new actors, have been confirmed via IMDb. Guide below updated!

5th September 2023

Variety has exclusively announced new series regulars Peter Gadiot (Tom Westfall) and Eliza Taylor (Hannah Carson, joining in 203) and premiered the new series key art.

NBC has also confirmed titles for 201 as “This Took Too Long!” (previously leaked as Stranded), 202 as “Ben & Teller”, 205 as “One Night in Koreatown” and 208 as “Nomad” (previously Nomads). Many new photos have been added to the guide below.

3rd September 2023

Just a few weeks before the second season starts, Quantum Leap has been confirmed for an 8pm timeslot (brought forward from the previously-announced 9pm). Titles have also been announced and are listed in the guide further down in this page.

With the strikes still in full force, this run of episodes is set to air for eight weeks.

It’s worth noting that the longest ever WGA strike lasted 154 days in 1988. This year’s will reach 155 days on October 4th. The longest ever SAG strike (not counting a very long one specifically targetted at the advertising industry) was 95 days. The current strike will reach 96 days on October 18th. So by late-October we’ll be in literally unprecedented times for Hollywood.

23rd July 2023

San Diego Comic Con is just wrapping up, and the Quantum Leap Podcast will have a full report on the Quantum Leap Experience soon, as our very own Albie Burdge was there taking photos and videos. In the meantime, NBC’s official gallery, credited to David Yeh, is below, and NBC provided a summary of the plotline.

NBC also went ahead with the QL panel, despite the lack of any actors, and showed the first eight minutes of 201. Deadline summarised the action here, and confirmed Melissa Roxburgh, as we’d reported on back on July 12th.

19th July 2023

Quantum Leap will now move from Mondays to Wednesdays (previous reports had suggested Tuesdays), beginning October 4th. We understand there are eight episodes filmed and ready to air. If they air without breaks (which is not confirmed), this would take the run up to November 22nd.

Production is currently on hold due to two strikes:

The Writer’s Guild of America (79 days, since May 2nd). Previous strikes are:
1960: 148 days
1973: 112 days
1981: 96 days
1985: 14 days
1988: 154 days
2007-8: 99 days

SAG-AFTRA (6 days, since July 14th). Previous actors strikes are:
1952-3: 79 days
1960: 42 days
1980: 95 days
1986: 14 hours
1988: 25 days (commercials)
2000: 182 days (commercials)

14th July 2023

The actors union SAG-AFTRA has joined the WGA in striking against the studios. This has resulted in the team pulling out of their planned appearance at San Diego Comic Con (as SAG-AFTRA rules prevent striking actors from promoting TV shows and films), and of course brings further uncertainty to the future of the second season beyond the eight episodes already filmed.

12th July 2023: Everything we know so far about the second season…

  • Eight episodes filmed, production now halted due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America Strike (which began 2nd May) and likely an impending SAG-AFTRA (actors) Strike expected to start tonight. Note that 109 was filmed mid-Oct 2022, so assuming a similar schedule this year, the production team still have three months to start up again before they risk running ‘late’.
